Terri Blackstock

I have not read all of Terri Blackstock’s books but the ones I have read I have enjoyed immensely.  I think the very first Terri Blackstock book I read was “Covenant Child” in middle school. Actually, I think it is the very first Inspirational fiction novel I read.  I reread it not too long ago and I couldn’t remember what I thought of it back in middle school.   For the life of me I can’t remember.  I did like it the second time I read it though.
If you haven’t read it, you should give it a try.

Why would children of wealth and privilege live in squalor? Little Kara and Lizzie were heirs to one of the largest fortunes in the country. But when their father and his parents die suddenly, the toddlers are ripped from the arms of a loving stepmother, and given to their cruel maternal grandparents, who want the children’s fortune for themselves.
Even the stipend they get for supporting the children is squandered in the gambling casinos they frequent, while the children raise themselves. Kara and Lizzie grow up believing they are worthless…until the day when they learn the truth. www.terriblackstock.com

If you haven't read "Covenant Child" you should give it a try.

Happy Saint Patrick's day

Happy Saint Patrick's day everyone! I hope you are wearing some green and don't get pinched.  :) Since it is St. Patrick's day my song for the day is Steal Away by Celtic Thunder Heritage.

Most Famous Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.  source

Forget Me Not by Vicki Hinze

forget me not
Vicki Hinze is an award-winning author of 23 novels, three nonfiction books, and hundreds of articles.  I personally hadn’t heard of this author until I entered a contest to win a free book.  I can’t even remember where I won it from.  I finally got around to reading the book.  (A side note, I am actually very terrible about reading the free books I win.) This is also the same for Ted Dekker’s books.  I have read some but not all.  So back to Forget Me Not, it is an edge of your seat suspense novel.  It was quite a page turner. I am truly a romantic at heart and even though this is a suspense novel there is some romance sprinkled throughout the book.
James Rollins author of The Doomsday Key says in the front cover of the book it was “Written with equal parts grace and passion, Vicki Hinze’s latest thriller Forget Me Not delves deeply into a chilling world of twisted loyalties, amnesia, and the struggle of a woman to expose a terrorist plot. Romantic, suspenseful, and ultimately uplifting, this story proves that what is buried in the past never stays buried forever.”

Description of book
Crossroads Crisis Center owner Benjamin Brandt was a content man- in his faith, his work, and his family. Then in a flash, everything he loved was snatched away. His wife and son were murdered, and grief-stricken Ben lost faith. Determination to find their killers keeps him going, but after three years of dead ends and torment, his hope is dying too. Why had he survived? He’d failed to protect his family.

Now, a mysterious woman appears at Crossroads seeking answers and help-a victim who eerily resembles Ben’s deceased wife Susan. A woman robbed of her identity, her life, of everything except her faith and Susan’s necklace.

The connections between the two women mount, exceeding coincidence, and to keep the truth hidden, someone is willing to kill. Finding out who and why turns Ben and the mystery woman’s situation from dangerous to deadly. Their only hope for survival is to work together, trust each other, and face whatever they discover head on, no matter how painful. But will that be enough to save their lives and heal their tattered hearts?

Terrible blogger

I am a terrible blogger.  I have these great intentions of writing a blog post but I never do.  We all have a story, I just think mine is boring.  :)

I bought a kindle fire last month, something I never thought I would buy, but it has been a lot of fun to read books on, surf the Internet and play words with friends.  I have never really played scrabble accept for scrabble Jr. where they give you the words to play.  Words with friends can be an addictive game.

My schedule at the library is changing slightly so I will be working Saturdays instead of Sundays.  Sundays have always been the fun day to work but they have cut them out of the schedule.

Karen Kingsbury's latest novel Loving in the Bailey Flanigan series is available March 27.  I should be more excited but I really can't wait for Karen to write about something other than the Baxter family. I will probably buy the copy of Loving to finish the series off.

About three months ago I seen the trailer for The Hunger games. I had never heard of them but the trailer made it look really good.  I put my name on the list for the book at the library and it didn't take long for a copy to become available and I really enjoyed the books in the series.  Here is the trailer if you haven't seen it.

I was talking to one of the reference librarians about the Hunger games and she could see where the story was going and wasn't a huge fan of the series but she had read another series that was the same type of genre that if you liked the Hunger games you might like Matched by Ally Condie.

Here is the book trailer for the first book Matched.

I will try and write more blog posts on a more regular basis.

Happy Valentine's day everyone! Robin Lee Hatcher posted this video on her blog more than two years ago and I have loved it ever since.  I will go back to it from time to time and re watch it.  Enjoy!

Am I the only one?

I am wondering if I am a peanut butter snob? We opened a new container of Jif peanut butter and the flavor is absolutely amazing.  We had bought Skippy before and I can tolerate it just doesn't taste as good as Jif.

The ingredients on Jif have molasses and Skippy does not have molasses.  I think that might be the difference.  So, is anyone else a peanut butter snob?

Spring

I am so very ready for spring to be here.  It is my favorite season. I love seeing the Pink cherry blossom trees, Daffodils, and Tulips during spring.  Winter will be gone and the weather will be getting warmer.  I love taking pictures during spring because of all the colors. During winter there isn't much to take pictures but spring is when it all changes.

Earlier this week on February 2, the groundhog saw his shadow so we have six more weeks of winter.  If the little groundhog hadn't seen his shadow we would have had an early spring. Here are a couple of photos from spring a couple years ago.  I can't wait to take spring pictures this year.
